During the weeks leading up to the sports the House Leaders went round to all members of the Houses asking students who were interested in athletics to put their names down in the track and field events.
The rivalry between the Houses has been gradually building up and each House wanted to win. Hakea were keen to win and so make it the double – Swimming and Athletics.
At the same time there were field events happening all over the field and many students chose to support their friends in long and triple jump, shot put and javelin.
There was a lot of excitement in the high jump as several records were broken in both the girls and boys events.
The final events were the relays and there were some exciting finishes among the competitors.
The final announcement of the day was to announce that Callistemon had won the Athletics Carnival.
The Staff, students and parents would like to thank Mr. Jason Beattie and his team for the planning and smooth running of the day and to the Student teachers who so ably helped in the judging. A good day was had by all and we look forward to the next House competition which will be the House Chorales.
