Swimming Carnival Report

Ashampoo_Snap_2016.03.24_09h24m12s_004_The first whole schools sports event, the Swimming Carnival, took place at Noble Park Aquatic Centre on Thursday 3rd of March. The carnival was organized by Mr. Beattie and ably assisted by other members of the Physical Education department, The students were given the opportunity during the Learning Tutor lessons to sign up for the various events so that each House would be represented in each event. At the pool students assembled under the banners of each House and were encouraged to wear their House colour. The events started promptly at ten o’clock and soon Callistemon House showed that they were determined to win with a full complement of students in each event. Although we did not have champions who swam at State level as in 2015 there were a number of very good swimmers including Abbas Rajabi, Becky Kendall, Zerina Redzepagic, Justin Truong and Jasmine Naylor who won their age levels. Mr. Lloyd and Ms. Taylor kept us abreast with the results of each race with their mixture of seriousness and hilarity.

It soon became clear that Callistemon was going to be the Champion House and by the end of the carnival they were over fifty points in front. The students certainly enjoyed the day and thanks to all the staff in assisting Mr. Beattie to make the Swimming Sports a memorable day in the school calendar.
