A summary of the proceedings by Mr B Rollason

The school year at DHS begins with the important assemblies for the Senior and junior students when the School Leaders, House Captains and Student Representative Council students are introduced to the whole school body and invested with their badge of office. The Assembly started with an acknowledgement to the original people of the area and then Natasha Gonzales, accompanied by Mr. Christoffelsz, sang two verses of the Australian National Anthem. The Principal then gave her welcome address and some words of wisdom to the student body. Certificates were presented to the VCE students of 2015 who were the high achievers in that year. The students were informed of their ATAR score and what course they were taking in 2016. Then eight students were presented with a certificate for becoming the Vex Robotics Australian National Champions for 2015/2016. Dafina Spahui was awarded the Bruce Van Den Berg Award for the best English result at VCE. The School Captains were then at this very important presented, Rebecca Mersin and Imran Rasoli, followed by the Vice School Captains, Saeeda Lodin and Abbas Rajabi and then the SRC Presidents, Sunmonic Y and Zafar Sheikh.House Captains were then presented with their badges followed by the student representatives from each house. The official Party then left and students, parents and guests were able to meet in the LRC for an informal morning tea.

Thanks to Mrs Sally-Ann Dowman for her meticulous planning of the Assembly and her being Master of Ceremonies for this very important event in the School Calendar.
