At Dandenong High School we believe that establishing a genuine partnership with our families is essential in ensuring every student achieves success. Engagement is fostered when communication is regular and connects our teachers, students, and families to build our learning community.
To maintain the connection with all members of our community, we have established a number of ways to share information, celebrate the different events within the school calendar, communicate school policies and involve our parents/carers in the learning of their child and in the priorities of the school.
Our newsletter is published each term and contains a message from the Principal, information on whole-school, year-level and community events. Each House provides an update as to the term’s focus and student achievements and contribution to the school are celebrated. The newsletter is available on the website on the last day of each term.
Compass is our online learning management and community engagement platform. The school uses Compass for the provision of news, updates, and reminders, including excursions and events. Students and families use Compass to consent to an excursion or event, track attendance and send absence notes, email House Leadership Teams and subject teachers and access Compass Learning Tasks to provide students and parents with access to all learning resources and the provision of real-time feedback, assessment and end of semester Reports.
All documentation relating to whole-school improvement and areas of priority for each school year are available on the school’s website and include the four-yearly School Strategic Plan, the Annual Implementation Plan, and the Annual Report to the School Community.
The school hosts parent evenings and forums throughout the school year, related to transition, course selection and our Senior Studies program.
All School Policies are available on the school’s website and are updated regularly by the School Council. All of our policies are in-line with the Department of Education and promote a learning environment of engagement, inclusion, and safety for all members of our learning community.
