Hakea House is a place where all students, teachers and parents are inspired to form strong learning bonds, connections and partnerships in a warm, nurturing and supportive learning environment. Our focus is personalised success, so individual growth and achievement is nurtured and formally celebrated. Students and staff are regularly challenged to move beyond their comfort zone to continually strive for excellence.

Through developing a deep understanding of what an exemplary house looks, feels and sounds like, our team is working hard to develop and implement key initiatives and programs to take the House to the next level. A key focus this year is to develop a shared responsibility within our learning community. Student Leaders are imperative to this work and act as an extension of the House Leadership Team. Student, staff and parent voices are valued and encouraged in order to create a shared and negotiated learning environment, where all are empowered, and meaningful connections are created.

HAKEA HOUSE CAPTAINS – Kathleen Faalavaau and David Kafrouni

Hakea House has always been a place where we have felt comfortable, happy and privileged. It is a house where all students are welcomed with open arms, and share smiles amongst each other. To be elected as the House Captains for Hakea in 2018, is such an honour, and we both wish to carry the legacy of the previous leaders, as well as make our own.

Together with the House Leadership Team, we aim to be a platform which communicates the voices of the Hakean students, so they are heard. Every student in Hakea is a member of this amazing family, regardless of the year level they are in. It is our role to look out and care for our peers as though as they are our family, and to set an example for the younger generations, especially those who aspire to be in a leadership position.

Hakea house is full of spirit and inspiration, and most importantly, carries a big heart. We have been awarded with the Social Service shield many times, which proves our dedication to good causes. There is a sense of determination which is carried out in the sporting events including Swimming & Athletics carnival – which allows our students to show off their full potential outside of the classroom and also brings forth a feeling of togetherness.

We are both so proud to be in Hakea, and happily represent it in 2018. We believe our house has the potential to grow even stronger. As a family, with the guidance from the both of us, we will work to exceed our limitations and propose as many ideas as we can to ensure the students in Hakea are satisfied and fulfilled with their life at school.
