Introducing our Design Engineering Academy

The first student intake of our Design Engineering Academy in 2022, coincided with the opening of the brand-new Design Centre

What is the Design Engineering Academy at Dandenong High School?

We aim to provide greater access to new careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). These careers are constantly evolving and we need to ensure our students are ready for an exciting and challenging future.

Building on our well-established STEM program, we have established the Design Engineering Academy at Dandenong High School. The Academy will offer students the chance to challenge themselves and to undertake intensive and engaging learning in STEM subjects.

How is the Academy different from our STEM program?

Our STEM program includes core subjects in Years 7 to 9, Year 10 Stem Innovators and Robotics, and VCE offerings including Computing Science, Systems Engineering and Software Development.

The Design Engineering Academy will follow a selective-entry process for Year 9 students who want to extend their skills beyond our STEM program.

Students in the Academy undertake a range of specially designed STEM subjects including:

Cyber Security
Computational Thinking
Data Analytics
Psychology of Artificial Intelligence

Future Plans for the Academy

Senior Students will be equipped with the skills and learning to establish a career and further study in STEM.

VCE Students studying Units 3 and 4 will undertake an extended program of study to put them ahead of the game when they move to the next phase of study.
